#toddlermomlife amirite?

It’s been…I can’t even tell you how long since I’ve written here. But I plan (hahahaha) to be better about it. Seeing as the toddler is napping talking to himself in his crib I thought I’d take the time to update y’all on life so far.

SproutCroft hit the one year mark on January 1st! They really mean it when they say time flies. Heck I still remember taking him home thinking how the hell are we going to take care of this tiny person? But seeing as he’s still kicking and growing like a weed the hubbins and did something right! Go us! In fact he’s to that fun stage where he repeats everything and I do mean everything! His favorite word is “sauce”, short for applesauce….yep we have to spell it out or he starts sounding like one of those seagulls from ‘Finding Nemo’ but instead of “MINE?” your hear “SAUCE?”. It’s hilarious unless it isn’t time for sauce.

As for me? I got that nasty cold that lingers for two weeks or turns into something else. Well, in my case it turned into a sinus infection first. THEN bronchitis with a side of fractured rib. It’s not been fun times chasing around a toddler and dealing with that. Serious downside to the whole stay at home mom life…NO sick days at all. Unless dada is home and even then rest time is limited.

I’m also slowly launching my social media assistance business. What is it I do? Read through these questions and find out! Does connecting with your customers via social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.) take time away from your business? Need help setting up, using, or managing these accounts? What about promoting your brand/business? Do you use MailChimp or Constant Contact but need assistance in setting up mailings/newsletters? Does your business website have a blog, but no content? Need another set of eyes to proof your content prior to publishing?

If you need help with any of these things let me know in the comments and we can talk. Oh and I also need a name for this business… Current ideas include Geeky Momma Social Media and that’s about it. So put those thinking caps on and help a gal out!

Buzz, buzz, buzz

I have been one busy bee since I started my new job on Monday! I’ll tell you I’m really enjoying it and that there is NEVER a dull moment. The day zips by and I’m really doing good work.

Last night to celebrate the new job I went out with two of my college buddies from a certain college in Troy, not up a hill. We went to the Charles F. Lucas Confectionary and Wine Bar (here). Great wine/beer, cheese, and of course friends. We had a great gab session and really enjoyed our time there. Sadly the new patio was closed because apparently it is never going to stop raining here in Upstate NY ever!

Today was more work, and the same tomorrow. Bring it on! But then I get two days off for the 4th of July! Now that is what I call an awesome first work week. I plan to enjoy every minute of those sweet, sweet four days!

I’m also tossing around the idea of starting up a Facebook Page and Twitter account for the Hubbins Etsy shop. He does some beautiful work. In fact he made this for me the other night!

He rocks!
He rocks!

How cool is that? I mean really? Wouldn’t you buy one? Wouldn’t you like to know when new merch is added to the shop? So chime in and let me know if you think the Hubbins needs a Facebook Page and Twitter account! I think he does, but what do I know?

I’m going to go buzz off and see if I need to clear up from the tasty eats I made for dinner…Iand yes I’ll post the recipe. Which probably won’t help as this is one of those meals where I measure things like the Italian I am. As to the cleaning I hope I’m not on clean-up duty seeing as I cooked it…but you never know around here… buzzzz!

No bun(s) in the oven…yet

I’ve been silent I know. But busy. I also have BIG news. No, don’t get all cray cray people. There is no bun in this here oven. We’re going to take a little break from that business for now. There are a few good reasons why.

Yours truly landed herself a new job yesterday! {insert flailing muppet arm here} Yup I start very soon. I’m excited AND it happens to be the start of my dream job working for a law firm focused on advocacy. That is all I will say on the topic for now. Sorry kids, but even some things should not be splashed all over the internets! As time goes on I may say more, but we’ll see.

In other Grey Hat news the hubbins and I are off to the Emerald Isle! That’s right kids we are headed to Ireland! I am beyond over the moon about this. We’re doing a driving tour and staying in some amazing castles and bed and breakfasts. And NO I won’t tell you when….no robbing my house people!

The hubbins sent me flowers at work!
The hubbins sent me flowers at work!

That’s right my hubbins is even more awesome! My dear friend Pesha of Flowers By Pesha was waiting for me when I arrived at work this morning with these lovely flowers. I am one LUCKY lady! Seriously, I’m sort of having the best week ever. But wait there’s more!

Wow, I sound like an infomercial. But today I picked up a travel book of Ireland (duh) and….AND a ukelele!!! I know what your thinking. Really? Or perhaps you might be thinking Oh dear lord why? Well, I like it. Plus I’ve wanted one for a while and it was also my paid off one loan gift/new job gift to myself! Also the hubbins said I could. He even let me tinker on it in the car. Now I have NO idea how to play it, but that’s what youtube is for.

Pay no attention to my WHITE legs. They may blind you.
Pay no attention to my WHITE leg. It may blind you.

Special thanks to Amanda Palmer (who I’m sure does not read this blog) for getting the idea into my head in the first place. She’s fantastic!

Which in an odd way brings me back to the next amazing thing on my list of cool things this week. The hubbins, some friends, and I are going to see NEIL GAIMAN tomorrow night! I am beyond excited. He’s going to talk about his new book The Ocean at the End of the Lane and some other things. Mr. Gaiman will also be signing a copy of his new book and if time permits another of his books we might want to bring!

I also have bridesmaid duties to attend to Friday evening for a bit. The niece is coming to stay and oh right I’m getting my 4th tattoo! I’m not going to tell you what it is. You’ll see it soon enough!

I’ve got a pretty jam packed week ahead and I am loving it!

In other news you still have time to enter my GIVEAWAY! To enter just comment on the blog post with what you want to be entered to win.

Whew, that was a lot. I’m going to go tinker on my new ukelele which I have named Islington. I don’t know why, but there you have it. My soprano ukelele is named Islington. I wonder if I could get Neil Gaiman to sign it?
