Sleep is for the weak… {aka that 5-7pm nap was a BAD idea}

Yeah, I wasn’t going to post anything this weekend. Mostly because I thought I would be in bed by now. Which might have been true if not for that nap from 5pm to 7pm…I guess asking someone ::cough::Hubbins::cough:: to wake me in an hour was the wrong thing to do. Plus King Purr (aka Ty) was super good at singing me the song of his people. He’s sort of a dick like that. But I still love him. So here I sit…sort of wide awake at 11:06pm (as of this typing).

I have a lot to go this week. Most of it involves sending out mail I should have sent a while ago…letters, cards to engaged friends I had for ages (but I’m throwing in a surprise so all good there. I also have tea to share with some tea pals…that is also late. Not being able to drive (thanks eyeballs) sucks when you have all these things you need to do but can’t get there without the help of others.

BUT I did manage to get from Downtown Saratoga to Ballston Spa via the bus without getting lost or having a massive panic attack. I’ll chalk that up to a win in my book. I didn’t get any writing done in Saratoga like I had planned. Why you ask? Every kid from Skidmore took up all the tables in the coffee place I wanted to write in. Ok, maybe not every kid, but it sure seemed like it.

So I wandered instead. My wandering took me into Bettie’s Cakes. She now sells gluten free cupcakes! I knew this when we wandered in last weekend and they were yummy. I picked up a red velvet one this time around. I also had some of her maple bacon ice cream as well as some red velvet ice cream. All I have to say is YUM!

It was too good to share a pic of the actual ice cream...

I suggest stopping by. I also got to meet “Bettie”…very cool.

Saturday was very full and exciting…which meant today was very low key and quiet. Thankfully. But still no writing was done, unless you count this post. Which you can, but it isn’t book writing. I also got another idea for a different story…thanks a lot Neil Gaiman! I read Volume 1 of his graphic novel series Sandman. It was great and now I have an idea…

I’m also working on something else super secret for now. I’ll let you know when I can share more. But I do have some good news…I’m feeling sleepy. Which is good because this post just ran all over the place. (I’m sort of sorry)

Ponder this…

The other morning my response to my alarm clock was not to turn it off or hit snooze (at first). No I responded verbally with the response I use when answering the phone at work “__________, Good morning!” Figure THAT one out! I sure as heck don’t get it.

While you attempt that…have a kitty picture.

We’re at now now

If you can name the movie…well pat yourself on the back! I’ve had a full week as you may have read in my first post from yesterday. What will it being birthday week and all. Let me tell you I am TIRED. Of course that also might be the late night game of Parcheesi talking too…

Friday of birthday week!
Friday of birthday week!

There is sadly only one more day of birthday week…until next year. Today was pretty mild at work, thankfully. Considering we were a woman down to answer the phones. The high point of work was def. grabbing a tasty breakfast sammich and nummy coffee that went by the name of Holy Cow. This was the most amazing mix of flavor I have ever had…vanilla, chocolate, AND caramel. Nom, nom, nom.

If you happen to be in the Albany area stop by Cafe 677 between 7 and 3. They do up breakfast and lunch. It was such a good breakfast sammich that I went back for lunch and had a grilled portabello, red pepper, and pesto sammich. This may be my new place for eats…until we move that is. Hopefully it won;t happen too soon!

COFFEE is a must after late night Parcheesi.

After work the Hubbins and I had to head to the mall, thankfully we knew what we wanted and got in and out quickly. Then headed to our local jeweler to get two rings fixed. One thankfully was only a costume piece, but it belonged to my Nonnie so that makes it priceless in my book. Sure it won’t be the same as it was, but at least I can get it fixed and on the cheap. I’m also getting a ring I’ve had FOREVER resized. It has to be close to 20 years since I was last able to wear it. So I’m pretty tickled that it too can be fixed for on the cheap.

Not that we’re cheap people. But I don’t like to break the bank if I don’t have to. While we were in said jeweler we were able to get our wedding bands and other rings and things sparkled up. They are rather blinding now…but look amazing. While we waited I headed next door to Starbucks because I was super thirsty and really had to use the loo.

My iced chai latte, with the largest straw ever!
My iced chai latte, with the largest straw ever!

That drink might just be a new fan favorite. MIGHT. There is much I have to discover at Starbucks I’m sure. I want to create the most amazing drink ever there…just to a. mess with my barista and test his/her metal and b. to blow peoples minds. I’m weird like that what more can I say?

In other news I plan to attempt to post something everyday, even if it’s only a photo…so see how long I keep that one up. (I’ve tried this before and FAILED!)

Blog Dump

Allow me to apologize for the lack of posting this last week. I posted once…but the heat really killed my desire to sit and type at the computer to all you fine people. So allow me to recap the week for you. IT WAS HOT! As in, in the 90’s almost 100 degrees hot. Let me tell you friends that is not at all normal for Upstate NY ever. It was the kind of heat where the moment you got out of the shower…you felt you needed another. Gross.

So I was basically sitting in front of the fan most nights after work. I did score dinner with Red Monday or Tuesday night this week. She is quite the pisser and a damn good time. We share one of those special bonds of being the oldest siblings in our respective families. Which means we’ve got “war” stories of being the better child to share and bond over with one another. Plus the sushi was delicious and the frozen yogurt was even better!

Wednesday is a blur of more heat…I was ready to climb into the freezer by this point mid-week. I was thankful for the a/c in the bedroom, but the next house is going to have central air…I care not how much that will cost. I’m going to make it happen or move somewhere cooler. Which it looks like we’re running out of – quickly.

On Thursday evening I stayed home thinking I would have plans for the evening while the Hubbins headed to his folks house. Turns out those fell through and I was home alone with the cats. Who I might add were probably hotter than I. BUT we do have a cat door into our bedroom so they can get to the a/c. Sadly one middle kitty is not that swift. She sat herself in the hottest rooms in the house this week and whined the entire time. I had no sympathy for this. She knew where the cool was.

So the cats and I “chilled” (ha). I wrote and they whined or slept. I really enjoyed myself. Somehow I even managed to stay up until the Hubbins came home and as a result went to bed very late and slept poorly. But I did win a bet that that would happen and scored a dollar out of the deal. I advise against Midnight Parcheesi playing if you sleep poorly as it is wink wink.

Friday was more of the same. Yup you guessed it…HEAT. But it was Friday, which meant the weekend was finally here! The Hubbins and I opted to head to our friends house for a visit. Plus they have central air. We were invited…we did not invite ourselves! I also finally got to play Sentinels of the Multiverse! This is a game that FayMom had been trying to get me to play for ages…the Hubbins too after playing at FayMom’s house (which is where we were). It’s a fun co-op game to play where you all work together to destroy the bad guy/gal. I suggest checking it out.

This morning we ran grown-up errand to the bank. Which is all I will say on the subject for now…but one local bank WILL never be getting my business ever again! The rest of the day will be spent being boring and lazy and I would not have it any other way. Besides a story idea hit me square in the face early this week and I’m planning to let it out today!

I’ll leave you with this for now…

Boring post I know…but I’m working on some more interesting things for later this weekend/next week.

Black Birds Fly…

We’ve been enjoying the weekend with the Niece so far. We went to a local amusement park early this afternoon with her and friends D and K and their daughter B. Then headed out for eats before coming home to crash before it was time for my fourth tattoo.

If you’ve followed the blog you know of my baby carrying troubles. So I give you this…

Stunning work!
Stunning work!

The three black birds represent my three lost babies I never got to hold. The fourth bird is colored purple. That one is for the Niece as she is like a daughter to me and always in my heart as are the little ones I never met…hence the “Always”. My wonderful tattoo artist Ms Retro Dixie mentioned she hopes to be adding more colored birds to my arm and less black birds in the future. I agreed…as that is the plan.

I apologize a little for the shall we say sappy post tonight. But there it is.

Late night posting

As I write this I can hear the sound of flesh being torn from limbs…which means my husband is watching The Walking Dead. Well, I HOPE that’s what’s going on. If not this might be the shortest post ever…

Nope it is the TV, I can hear the theme music. Crisis averted (Fact for some reason I thought that word was spelled overted – see what happens when I try to get fancy? That’s right I need to use google when the red line of WRONG shows up.). So we’re not going to die in a freak zombie apocalypse. Which is awesome because I have a three day weekend!

The only not awesome part about this whole weekend happens tomorrow around 1pm. I’m going in for some crazy Ultrasound/X-ray thing where in a balloon and then a little while later dye are shot into lady town and photographed. Please note this was the cliff note version of the procedure. The office claims it isn’t as painful as when other places do this. Right so I’m taking the 4 Advil for shits and giggles right?

I’m going to guess no…I’m taking it because this will be unpleasant. Well, it had better not keep me from my dinner out later in the evening. Anyway, they do this test to check to make sure there are no abnormalities, growths, etc within lady town. Obviously I’m hoping to get out of there in a timely fashion and with a clear bill of health. We shall see.

Other than that I and dinner I have a whole lot of relaxing, writing, and laundry (so much laundry) to do this weekend. I really could not be happier. Well, if someone else did the laundry I’d be thrilled. But we can’t always get what we want.

I’m also up way past my bedtime. So I should probably go do that. But first a picture of a cat.

This was taken this morning. He was waiting for his cheese coated thyroid meds.
